Today’s educators are responsible for teaching and nurturing America’s children, half of whom have experienced trauma in the form of abuse, neglect, violence, or challenging household circumstances—and 35 percent of whom have experienced more than one type of traumatic event.

On top of this, teachers are challenged by multiple accountabilities that draw down their inner strength: a heavy emphasis on standardized testing; increasingly difficult student behavior; lack of personnel or consistent staffing; inadequate prep time; challenging interactions with parents; lawsuits; lack of resources or training; being forced to teach outside of their expertise; low pay; and a lack of respect for the profession.

Many teachers are at a breaking point. The profession must respond to its demoralized and fatigued, or risk harming the health of its current workforce and alienating recruits who have the passion and skill to succeed.

Frontline Psychological Services & Wellness believes teacher well-being is more than a “nice to have.” It’s an essential.

We support our nation’s educators with training, consultation and wellness events. Contact us and develop a plan personalized to your school community.

Trainings

Trainings are designed to foster safety, mastery and empowerment. Our goal is to facilitate practical and learner-focused trainings that (a) inspire and motivate, (b) celebrate individual and group achievements, (c) increase learners’ knowledge about the subject matter and (d) reinforce workplace values and principles. We are guided by the belief that learners learn best when they talk, think, move, create, play and act.

Consultation

Consultation may be requested when staff members are plagued by low morale, shaken by crisis, or experiencing chronic stress, any or all of which can compromise their school’s mission. Proactive consultation may occur to enhance teachers’ well-being and stave off problems associated with chronic stress and secondary traumatic exposure.

Wellness events

Our wellness events range from half a day to as long as one week and can occur on a one-time basis or repeat monthly, quarterly or at another agreed upon rate. Activities are designed to support reflection in place of reaction, curiosity in lieu of numbing, self-care instead of self-sacrifice and collective impact rather than silo-ed structures.
